How to avoid heavy net saree from looking puffy

  • Avoid multiple pleats.
  • Try to make each pleat wider.
  • Minimize the number of pleats (instead of 7–8 pleats you can try to minimize it to 3-4 pleats?).
  • Start tucking it all the way from the ‘right’ side of your waist and bring it in the front, approximately 2 inches to the left of your navel.
  • When you tuck it try to keep them aligned.
  • You can pin your pleats at both ends so they all stay in line before you start tucking them.

** Make the pleats, tie the entire saree. Ask someone to press down the pleats together for you so that they form a creased straight compressed pleat.
** If you are going to be busy on the day you are planning to wear it.. then avoid too much running around.
** Put a heavy material cloth fall on the net sarees in order to keep them falling down due to the cloth weight and net is not puffed anymore.

Hopefully this helps & you’ll look very pretty in your beautiful netted saree.

When East meets West – Styling saree in fusion way

Who says saree can be only be worn in traditional way, saree is a six yard of pure elegance that can be worn in hundreds of ways. Sometimes in traditional way sometimes in fusion. A few tips when you style saree in fusion way. Try to pick minimal accessories so that the style is not over powered by other things. When you decide to style saree in fusion style pick light weight sarees (since they are much easier to drape in many ways and they don’t make you look bulky).

When you are styling saree in fusion try to pick single colored sarees, if you pick too busy saree it will probably won’t enhance the style that much, if at all you wanna try the bold prints for fusion pick very light colored or neutral colors blouses.
Last but not the least Carry your saree with your own attitude. Saree can make any Naari look like a million bucks as long as you wear it with confidence.

Here is a Self done phulkari saree worn with brocade corset blouse with a fascinator and gloves to give it western twist. I picked this look for an yearly tradition “Saree Parade” that happens right here in California. This year it was even more special because we got on stage after Two years of Covid.

2 Easy Draping Tips for SILK SAREES

Silk saris are one of our most prized possessions in our wardrobe. Especially, the ones passed on to us. The gorgeous vintage silk saris.

While draping silk sarees, it’s important to understand that the length of the sari and the pallu is important. Too long of either and your saree is sweeping the floor. Silk sarees are expensive and prone to damage and the worst thing you can do is to leave it dragging on the floor. Wouldn’t you agree my friends ?

Follow these 2 easy tip next time you drape your silk saree . It will make a world of difference.

1. When draping, make sure the bottom of the saree is just slightly almost at floor level. Not too low and not too high. Remember, silk sarees are heavy and eventually the drape will come down a bit.
2. When measuring the length of the pallu, bring the fabric to the front and make sure it doesn’t go beyond the knees level or slightly below. This way, your open pallu won’t drag on the floor.

These 2 simple tips will give you a clean look and protects your sarees too.
